set-free-movement-sliderAs part of our celebration of family life on February 21st, we remembered the thirty million people around the world who are torn from their families by modern-day slavery.

The choices we make can turn the tide for people living in slavery. As we become more aware of the issues, we better understand how we can support freedom for those most vulnerable to forced labor and human trafficking.

Always be prayerful for those who are trapped in the tragedy of slavery. And consider using online resources to find products that are made without forced labor. Made in a Free World, Fair Trade USA, and Equal Exchange are good places to start.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners…
—Isaiah 61:1
